Christmas Luncheon

While we were both making
the Christmas Luncheon, the
thyme was

a mess of fine powder all
in the drawer; or the wonder
of having

enough stuff. Is the
plunder of simple work,
sitting quiet

together? What red snaking
vine of thunderhead thread-
ing around

overhead read as fine lines
of a ledger for so far a
distance?

How much work a pittance
of our lowly picnic spread
out

on a snatch of burlap all
stained green with the
residue of

things eschewed by
implications in it's
cooking?

Imagist

Although I'm not an Imagist, I
only take an image that exists
in concept only.

Which only will respond when
something moves slower, dulls
in color as decelerating;

It is it's changing colour, less-
ening moving that my eyes
detect.

And so these clouded Forms of
notions, are projected there, except
that not

being real(ist) makes them speed-
less. Not being able to go faster,
slower; either.

It is the photographic theater of
something real—A constant repeat-
er, or a lighthouse

shining all around at once, while still not
being real; is real

the Republic

Implicit still in victory
and trampled by the crowd
I'm sorry for the levity.

I cannot hide it, Hope
-fully a stringed along
Republic tiredly is growing;

is keeping moving. Little
steps. And cautiously avoiding
litter; half full water bottles

Sometimes tripping, sometimes
troubled by the lack of moving,
stopping for a cigarette. And

always drooping, but redoubling
for the trouble's worth the troubling.
